- [01:19:54] <robosycho>
I'm trying to compile an opencv program for the beagle
- [01:19:58] <robosycho>
I have opencv headers installed
- [01:20:33] <robosycho>
but I get the message: .../arm-angstrom-linux-gnueabi/bin/ld: cannot find -lhighgui
- [01:20:36] <robosycho>
any suggestions?
- [01:24:28] <djlewis>
robosycho, what tutorial are you following? willowgarrage?
- [01:24:55] <robosycho>
I've been at this so long I can't remember all that I've tried, sorry
- [01:25:16] <djlewis>
looks as though you are trying to cross compile it?
- [01:25:20] <robosycho>
I also haven't found anything online that is up to date with the beagle
- [01:25:33] <robosycho>
actually I was hoping to save a hassle and compile natively
- [01:25:35] <djlewis>
define 'anything'
- [01:25:59] <djlewis>
you mean the opkg installables of opencv?
- [01:26:06] <djlewis>
they are old
- [01:26:11] <robosycho>
the python reference doesn't work, the opencv packages were just updated recently and had to be fixed
- [01:26:31] <robosycho>
right, but even then, I found information on the google group
- [01:26:33] <robosycho>
and that was out of date
- [01:26:50] <djlewis>
I have build natively versions 1.1.pre1 and 2.0
- [01:27:25] <djlewis>
you referring to the googlegroup info with my name in it?
- [01:27:25] <robosycho>
ok, I grabbed the latest with opkg
- [01:27:31] <robosycho>
which is 2.1
- [01:27:39] <robosycho>
yes
- [01:27:49] <djlewis>
you are running a 2.5.32 kernel then?
- [01:27:54] <djlewis>
2.6.32
- [01:28:06] <robosycho>
I don't remember
- [01:28:16] <robosycho>
its the latest demo image
- [01:28:22] <djlewis>
2.6.29 only offers up 1.0.0
- [01:28:26] <robosycho>
from march this year
- [01:28:53] <djlewis>
2.6.29 is the last stable though 2.6.32 should be close to stable by now.
- [01:28:59] <robosycho>
'opkg list' currently lists it as '2.1.0'
- [01:29:06] <robosycho>
ok
- [01:29:36] * RobotGrrl (~RobotGrrl@bas2-montreal50-1176032947.dsl.bell.ca) Quit (Quit: RobotGrrl)
- [01:29:41] <djlewis>
so have you tried your opkg install of 2.1 yet
- [01:29:56] <robosycho>
I'm trying to use that currently
- [01:30:24] <robosycho>
I have opencv-dev, opencv-apps, python-opencv and opencv
- [01:31:35] <robosycho>
I was talking to koen about this earlier, before there was an 'opencv' package to install, said it was a dummy because the opencv-dev wouldn't install, listing 'opencv' as a dependency
- [01:31:40] * guybrush_ (~billybeaw@ppp-58-8-34-38.revip2.asianet.co.th) has joined #beagle
- [01:32:10] <djlewis>
I was reading all day
- [01:32:18] <robosycho>
ok
- [01:32:23] <djlewis>
so did opencv install this time?
- [01:32:26] <robosycho>
yes
- [01:32:33] <robosycho>
I have the packages without a problem
- [01:32:36] <djlewis>
so perhaps it is fixed?
- [01:32:49] <robosycho>
installing it was
- [01:33:13] <robosycho>
but I go to compile a simple program to read from a webcam, it cannot find the libraries
- [01:33:23] <djlewis>
does this take us back to your beginning question above?
- [01:33:26] <djlewis>
I see
- [01:33:46] <robosycho>
yes
- [01:34:05] <djlewis>
your compile error is simply stating the path to the libraries was missing or wrong.
- [01:34:26] <djlewis>
have you confirmed you have highgui and the others?
- [01:34:40] <Ikarus>
hmmm, IGEPv3 sort of announced
- [01:34:49] <Ikarus>
1 Ghz and all
- [01:34:53] <robosycho>
trying to link highgui returns what I said before
- [01:35:07] <djlewis>
do you know where highgui lives?
- [01:35:17] <djlewis>
is is installed?
- [01:35:23] <robosycho>
usr/lib
- [01:35:51] <robosycho>
I have libhighgui.so.2.1 and libhighgui.so.2.1.0
- [01:36:10] <robosycho>
and cv and the rest in similar fashion
- [01:37:31] <DanaG>
I want something with ARM and PCIe.
- [01:37:42] <djlewis>
what does 'export LD_LIBRARY_PATH' give?
- [01:37:52] <robosycho>
echo?
- [01:37:56] <robosycho>
or export
- [01:38:10] <djlewis>
just look at the variables path
- [01:38:53] <robosycho>
/usr/lib
- [01:38:58] <djlewis>
good
- [01:39:01] <aholler_>
if you don't have libhighgui.so try ln -s libhighgui.so.2.1 /usr/lib/libhighgui.so
- [01:39:02] <DanaG>
Particularly, the Marvell stuff seems interesting.... but not available yet.
- [01:39:21] <aholler_>
or fix your Makefile to use lighighui.so.2.1
- [01:40:28] <robosycho>
excellent
- [01:40:31] <robosycho>
it compiles
- [01:40:52] <djlewis>
cool, tnx aholler_
- [01:41:17] <djlewis>
so ther is a mixup in the opencv installs.
- [01:41:45] <robosycho>

- [01:48:02] <robosycho>

- [01:48:20] <robosycho>

however the bottom third is broken

I'm suprised that didn't show up in google or the elinux wiki

one that my xM consistently fails :-(
- [14:50:08] <_koen_>
exactly
- [14:50:20] <_koen_>
all those single bit xml failures
- [14:50:38] <sakoman_>
has Jason uncovered the source to the alleged fix?
- [14:50:55] <_koen_>
not that I heard of
- [14:51:08] <_koen_>
and I still don't know if it actually fixes things
- [14:51:21] <_koen_>
and I refuse to test anything without access to source on this front
- [14:52:14] <sakoman_>
tomba and I are puzzling over why a patch from the psp kernel gets DSS2 working on the xM
- [14:52:32] <sakoman_>
it would seem to be completely unrelated, but yet it works
- [14:52:39] <_koen_>
heh
- [14:52:44] <_koen_>
which one?
- [14:52:57] <sakoman_>
I suspect some strange, undocumented side effect of setting a register bit
- [14:53:40] <sakoman_>
this one:
- [14:53:42] <sakoman_>
http://www.sakoman.com/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=linux-omap-2.6.git;a=commit;h=d11b22e59bb9f10a27586e191d1cca68b3c0d25e
- [14:54:17] <sakoman_>
it is slightly different that the one in the PSP tree -- that one does the change for all processors
- [14:54:34] <sakoman_>
since we don't understand why it works I do it only on 36xx
- [14:55:11] <sakoman_>
I'm sure we'll figure it out

I have an offboard chip that speaks SPI, to which I want to speak from the Beagleboard, so I've wired up the appropriate expansion pins to it. I want to use the spidev_test.c program to test it, but I can't get /dev/spidev to appear.
- [20:59:29] <djsmith>
I understand I have to setup the pinmux for the SPI pins, hence the kernel patch, but so far I have no joy.

my rootfs has a minimal /dev with only console, null, and a few others
- [21:33:19] <ds2>
