The Beagleboard Accessibility Devices will serve as a portable hardware platform to provide disabled individuals a consistent experience in the Rich Internet Application (RIA) arena. The device will provide an API/Interface for Text To Speech, non-verbal alerts, and storage space for runnable applications and content. Initial concepts/prototypes have already been produced using Arduino, Emic TTS, and the DLP-2232ML from FTDI. The proxy and communications software (written in Java) are stable… the hardware solution remains – Beagleboard is the natural choice.
